Content is the meaning of the message. It is also referred to as semantics. Messages can be transmitted with any symbol system (sign language, picture representations, icons, writing or speech).

Content reflects the concepts and ideas that we have available in our knowledge bank. It includes picking the right word, sign, or picture to get a message across. Chosen content must be in the nonverbal person's vocabulary and concepts reperatoire.
